A popular option for small businesses or branch offices, Essentials is limited to a maximum of 25 users and 50 devices. Limited to single-CPU servers with 10 cores or fewer. Available only as ROK (no OEM offer) but requires no additional CALs.

It’s important to note that the Server 2022 Essentials license cannot be used as a domain member server in an existing domain, nor can it have domain member servers. It cannot be used as a terminal server. If any of these features are required, the Windows Server 2022 Standard license is recommended at a minimum.
